How is pelvic floor therapy different from traditional physical therapy services?

Depending on your comfort level, a pelvic floor physical therapy evaluation and treatment plan may include both external and internal examination and/or treatment of your pelvic floor muscles. This is critical for assessing the strength and/or tightness of the pelvic floor muscles. Internal treatment such as manual therapy can be used to address tightness of the pelvic floor muscles, and can also be an effective way of achieving awareness of pelvic floor muscle contraction.
